Delvene Cockatoo-Collins handprints these tea towels individually in her studio. She will hand pick a colour combination specifically for you.

Minjerribah North Stradbroke Island is known to be the best land based whale watching experience on the east coast of Australia. At Mooloomba/Mulumba Point Lookout, it is possible to see the Yalingbilla – whales between May-October as they migrate north to warmer water and sometimes very close to the coastline – including Migalu the white whale.

In 2014, Delvene received a call from her mother, Evelyn who said ‘you’re not going to work tomorrow, we are getting a coffee and going out to watch Migalu go past. I just saw him on the news down at Fingal and he will be going past in the morning’. Delvene and her mum sat out at Mulumba to wait for Migalu go past. Within hours, Migalu swam past with several other whales around him barging and carrying-on. The water around him was turquoise. It really was a magical moment sharing in the joy of seeing Migalu go past.

It is now Delvene’s yearly goal to wait for Migalu.

This is handprinted on linen in studio on Minjerribah North Stradbroke Island by Delvene Cockatoo-Collins.
