This artwork reflects the moment the low gentle waves bring the eugaries (shellfish) into a vertical position which then dig down and disappear within a second - sharing a truly special moment.
Anyone who has spent time on back beach~main beach on North Stradbroke Island may have witnessed this. It also speaks of the places where our people have gathered and the memories of those gatherings. And a space where people continue to gather. Over time, the shells are weathered revealing patterns and the edges are made smooth.
This is handprinted on linen in studio on Minjerribah North Stradbroke Island by Delvene Cockatoo-Collins.
